I hear His voice! No... REALLY!

It's 11:04 pm, and WAY past my bedtime, but I just had to stay up and write about this....

Anyone else ever wonder if you hear God's voice?  Ever had a thought flit through your mind and you think... was that me or was that you, God?  And there are so many voices... some of them are lies and some of them truth... How do we sort through all of these voices and thoughts to discern the voice of our Father in Heaven?

What if a lie is that we don't know or hear God's voice?  I mean after all... Jesus said in John 10:27 -"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. And in Isaiah 30:21 it says, "And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left."  And John 8:47- "Whoever is of God hears the words of God".

It seems pretty clear in scripture... I hear His voice. He speaks to me!

But still... I struggle to remain confident that I hear his voice. I get these "random" thoughts and question if it was really God or not... SO TONIGHT....

I'm praying with some friends... I'm struggling... I felt like God told me to take my eyes off myself and pray for others, so I started with my friend to my left... The thought flits through my mind, "pray for her back"... So I started praying for her back, while thinking in the back of my mind... was that you God? Ok whatever, whether it was you or not, I guess I'll pray for her back... In the meantime, she starts praying for me and I hear little bits and pieces about hearing God's voice while I have a conversation in my mind with God about whether she really needs prayer for her back or not, but yeah, be with her back, Lord, anyway...  

Later she tells me that she felt led to pray for me that I'd know I hear God's voice...  Right before we closed up for the night, I got my courage up and asked her if by chance she was having back issues.  She said yes... So suddenly my wheels are clicking and I tell her... SO, while I was questioning whether God told me to pray for your back or not, He told you to pray for me to have confidence I hear His voice.  Come on now!  Really? This is the God we serve!  

Not only did I hear His voice right... She really needed that prayer for her back, but he covered both ends and had her pray for my need. Confidence in his voice... and THEN to top it off, he answered that prayer and gave me a good boost of it just through this story... And I have confidence he's gonna follow through, since this was all his idea in the first place, and finish the work of healing her back... What an awesome God we serve!
