April 2- First full day in Israel

Monday, March 30, at 5pm our team left the Kona base and headed to the airport.  This began a very long 2 days of travel.

Travel looked something like this:

3 hours at the Kona airport
5 hours from Kona to San Francisco
10 hours in San Francisco where we slept on cold floors, played guitar, prayed, played games, bought donut pillows for our next flight, and wandered around to pass the time.
10-11 hours from San Francisco to Frankfurt, Germany. We all were grateful for Lufstansa's food and entertainment that helped pass the time.
6 hours (about) in Frankfurt where we discovered some lovely cots to crash on. Many of us slept for the majority of our time there. Later we chuckled as we learned these cots were there for refugees.
4.5 hours from Frankfurt to Israel!  Most of us were so wiped at this point we could hardly hold our eyes open for the meal served on the plane.
1 hr (about) in the Tel Aviv airport going through passport control, gathering bags, and making our way to the bus.
1.5 hrs driving from Tel Aviv to Mt. Carmel where we are staying.

Over 40 hours after leaving our base in Kona and with the time difference, we made it to our new rooms after 2 in the morning on April 2.

Still, we woke up for breakfast at 9am this morning and had a day of orientation, learning about the place we are staying, the people here, some helpful phrases in Hebrew, and what we will be doing.  After a lovely lunch, we rested for a couple hours before heading out and locating the local grocery stores and eating some delicious hummus and more at a local restaurant.

Tonight will be our first full night of sleep since leaving, and I imagine we will sleep well!

Until next time, Shalom!!
